If you’re not having sex like porn stars, you’re not having good sex. One of the most pernicious myths is that sexual desire is “an electric spark of wanting” that happens naturally and instantaneously. There’s no such thing as normal when it comes to sex, and there’s more than one way of experiencing sexual desire. Even though I’m reading and writing and thinking and talking about sex all the time, I end up with no interest in actually having sex. When you talk to people who have great sex lives, they don’t talk about desire.

CNN —After Covid-19 lockdowns, 2022 was a year of marriages, according to new data. The number of marriages took a dive around the start of the pandemic, numbers show. But in 2020, the marriage rate was down to 5.1 per 1,000 people, the data showed. Growth in marriage rates may be due to more than just rescheduling, said Marissa Nelson, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Washington, DC. Divorce rates are going downIntentionality may also be behind declining divorce rates, she added.

Getting into the right mindset for Valentine’s Day
  + stars: | 2024-02-14 | by ( Ian Kerner | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +8 min
No matter your view on the topic, Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to put sex on the calendar, but don’t just focus on the act itself at the end of the evening. I’m not telling you to rearrange your entire day for sex, but to make small intentional choices that are pro-sex. That’s why my Valentine’s Day advice for you is not to just have sex. It’s Valentine’s Day, so come up with a sexy prize for each win and a naughty consequence for each loss. Don’t forget your kidsMany teens also feel pressure around Valentine’s Day — to be in a couple, find a date or have sex (whether or not they’re feeling ready).

A happier life after getting married may not just be in fairy tales. Adults who are married report being far happier than those in any other relationship status, according to a Gallup Poll published Friday. Over the survey period, married people consistently reported their happiness levels higher than their unmarried counterparts, ranging from 12% to 24% higher depending on the year, according to the data. “There’s also famously, for men anyway, a premium associated with being married in terms of earning higher income,” Rothwell said. “I don’t think we’re ever going to get to a point in social science where we can say whether or not and with any precision whether marriage causes happiness,” Rothwell said.

Public pools are disappearing across America

Yet just as public pools become more important than ever, they’re disappearing from sight. Today, the city has five public pools for a population of around 640,000, ranking 89 out of the largest 100 cities in swimming pools per person, according to Trust for Public Land, an advocacy organization for public parks and land. Private pools, like these in Southern California, have replaced public pools in recent decades. When America built poolsWhile public pools are a rarer sight today, governments built enormous pools during the twentieth century. The letter did not disclose either how much Berlin had proposed in state help, or by how much this had been reduced. The conflict lays bare how much industrial heavyweights depend on aid to decarbonise their businesses as well as the need for governments to approve subsidies quickly to avoid companies from shifting investments or stopping them altogether. Thyssenkrupp in August made the investment decision for the so-called direct reduction iron (DRI) site at its steel base in Duisburg, provided substantial subsidy commitments by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Berlin were fulfilled. Tekin Nasikkol, who heads the works council of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, told Reuters last week that Berlin needed to quickly approve hundreds of millions in subsidies for the site, adding workers' patience had run out. DUESSELDORF, May 17 (Reuters) - Thyssenkrupp's <TKAG.DE> labour bosses cranked up the pressure on Berlin to help fund a 2 billion euro ($2.2 billion) green steel production site, warning in a letter to Economy Minister Robert Habeck that a further cut could choke off the project. Reducing subsidies further would trigger a "massive discussion" within Thyssenkrupp's supervisory board over whether to pull the plug on the investment, the letter, dated May 17 and co-signed by the group's deputy chairman Juergen Kerner, said. Thyssenkrupp in August made the investment decision for the so-called direct reduction iron (DRI) site at its steel base in Duisburg, provided substantial subsidy commitments by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Berlin are being paid. LONDON — American micro-investing platform Acorns acquired GoHenry, a digital banking startup focused on educating kids about money, for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2012, GoHenry offers a spending card for children aged six to 18, linked to an accompanying money management app. However, Noah Kerner, Acorns' CEO and co-founder, insisted market conditions had no effect on the timing of the acquisition as talks between the two companies started as early as 2021. Acorns looked at more than 100 deals globally before landing on GoHenry, Kerner said, adding a $55 million cash infusion into GoHenry last year and its buyout of rival firm PixPay in France made the deal more attractive. "We pioneered kids and teens with GoHenry, and Acorns very much pioneered investing and saving and bringing mental wellness to the up and coming, to everyday America," Louise Hill, co-founder and chief operating officer of GoHenry, told CNBC in an interview.
